How Does It Work?

How does single action cylinder work?

A single acting hydraulic cylinder uses hydraulic pressure applied to one side of the piston to generate force in a single direction — the extension stroke. This is the working stroke where maximum force is produced.

The return stroke is accomplished passively — either by a pre-loaded internal spring that pushes the piston back once pressure is relieved, or by the weight of the load itself. This elegant simplicity means fewer seals, fewer potential failure points, and lower maintenance requirements.

  1. Extend (Hydraulic Drive): Pressurized hydraulic fluid enters through the port, pushing the piston and rod outward with full rated force.
  2. Retract (Spring / Gravity): When pressure is released, an internal spring or the load’s own weight returns the piston to its original position.

Why Choose Us

Core Advantages

Simple & Reliable

With fewer moving parts, our robust design ensures lower maintenance and superior durability, delivering consistent and stable power for the long haul.

Efficient Operation

The automatic spring-return feature simplifies your hydraulic setup and accelerates work cycles, making it ideal for high-speed, repetitive applications.

Compact & Flexible

More compact and lightweight than double-acting models, these cylinders are the perfect solution for mobile applications, on-site repairs, and operations in confined spaces.

System Compatibility

Designed for seamless integration, our cylinders perfectly match the full range of Kashon manual, electric, and air hydraulic pumps, offering you a complete system solution.

Low Maintenance Requirements

Single-port design minimizes seal wear points. Chrome-plated plungers and hardened bores resist corrosion and abrasion for extended service intervals.

FAQ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about single acting cylinders products and specifications.

You need to consider four main factors: ① The maximum force required (tonnage); ② The required stroke length; ③ The available installation space (especially the cylinder’s collapsed height); and ④ The operating environment. If you are unsure, our technical team is happy to provide expert selection advice based on your specific working conditions.

It depends on your usage frequency and power source. For occasional or mobile jobs, a manual pump is an economical and portable choice. For frequent or continuous operations, an electric pump offers higher efficiency. In workshop environments with a compressed air supply, an air hydraulic pump is a safe and effective option.
