Double-acting hydraulic cylinders, jacks and rams from Enerpac are available for sale in a huge selection of different configurations. The plunger within a double acting hydraulic cylinder uses hydraulics to both advance the plunger and also to provide a faster and more precisely controlled retraction. This makes them ideal for jobs requiring repeatable accuracy, fast retraction or push and pull forces. Double acting cylinders include two connection ports. All double-acting cylinders available for sale are rated 10,000 psi (700 bar) and fully comply to ASME B30.1 (except BRD-RD-Series).

How Does It Work?

Precision Hydraulic Engineering

Double-acting hollow plunger cylinders feature a central bore through the piston and cylinder body and two hydraulic ports. Using a control valve, hydraulic pressure is directed either to the piston side or the rod side, so that the piston is driven both out and back in under power.

Threaded bars, anchors or bolts can be passed through the central bore. The cylinder then applies force directly to this element – in tension or in compression. The powered return stroke makes the cylinder independent of gravity or return springs and allows high cycle rates.
